Senior Planner
CG Engineering is a civil and structural engineering and planning firm with a main office in downtown Edmonds, WA and a branch office in Snohomish. CG Engineering has an opening for a Senior Planner in our Edmonds office. Our planning team enhances the services we offer by working with our engineering teams, clients, and other consultants on residential and commercial site development projects. We are looking for a creative, engaged, and independent individual who can lead this small team.
Job Description and Profile
The Senior Planner leads the department on a variety of projects that are either independent or support our engineering projects including managing land use entitlement and permitting, conducting zoning and site constraints research, and coordinating schedules and deliverables. Independent projects may involve feasibility research, project and team management, and site analysis.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct due diligence/feasibility reviews including reviewing agencies’ codes, property records, technical reports, and preparing site plans and written reports with recommendations.
- Coordinate and prepare land use applications and manage the entitlement process through approval.
- Coordinate the processing and approval of construction permits.
- Act as liaison between clients, agencies, and design teams.
- Manage planning team members, including delegating work, reviewing work products, and mentoring.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in planning, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in land use planning or a related field.
- Experience with land use entitlements and construction permitting.
- Experience reviewing municipal code and applying it to development projects.
- Experience preparing conceptual-level site plans.
- Ability to prioritize a diverse workload, manage project budgets, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate well with clients and team members, strong technical writing skills, and public speaking proficiency.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, and MS Project.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with due diligence, site planning, land use entitlements, environmental review, construction permitting, etc.
- Experience with AutoCAD, BlueBeam, SketchUp, and Adobe Photoshop.
- Experience writing proposals, RFP/RFQ responses and managing contracts.
- Experience with title research and document recording.
- Experience with state and federal environmental permitting.
- Familiarity with local Pacific Northwest jurisdictions.
- Knowledge of Washington State’s Growth Management Act and Department of Commerce planning requirements.

Structural Engineer-in-Training
CG Engineering is a civil and structural engineering firm with a main office in downtown Edmonds, WA and a branch office in Snohomish. CG has an opening for a Structural Design EIT to join our team. The Structural Design EIT works closely with project managers to design structures in wood, steel, masonry, and concrete. The Structural Design EIT will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of structures including new construction, additions, remodels, renovations, and repairs. They will also prepare drawings and calculations for construction projects and conduct field inspections of existing structures.

Experience or course work in low-impact design, natural drainage systems, or sustainable site design is a plus.

Job Descriptions
Administrative Assistant
Our administrative assistant works with our office manager, engineers, and planners and answers phones. We are looking for someone who possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, and a positive attitude. The candidate should be able to interact with coworkers and clients in a professional and helpful way. It is important that this person is independently motivated and will take ownership of and follow through with day-to-day responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities:
• Admin support including answering a multi-line phone system and greeting clients
• Provide friendly and helpful customer service both on the phone and in the office
• Provide administrative support for Principals, Project Managers, and Staff Engineers
• Provide general office support such as filing, preparing outgoing mail, and scanning documents
• Coordinate office supplies and track inventory for both offices
• Assist with the planning and coordination of company events
• Occasionally run errands between the Edmonds and Snohomish office
• Work effectively as a team player with admin staff who share similar responsibilities
AutoCAD Drafter
The CAD Drafter works closely with engineers and other drafters to create base maps and drawings for projects in the residential, commercial, public works and telecom industries. The CAD Drafter will be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining engineering drawings, incorporating redlines and field markups into drawings, and ensuring the completeness and accuracy of company drafting standards. This position provides experience in a wide variety of projects and the opportunity to learn from a team of experienced drafters and engineers. The ideal candidate is an organized self-starter who works well with a team, has a solid foundation of technical skills, and is interested in gaining a broad range of experience.
Civil Engineer
CG Engineering has an opening for a Civil Project Engineer at our main office in Edmonds, WA. The Civil Project Engineer works closely with project managers and clients on residential and commercial site development projects. Our engineers gain expertise in storm drainage, water quality, and erosion control, site grading, and site utility design. Interested engineers must be able to work independently, communicate with clients, and assist with project proposals. We offer a range of benefits designed to provide a well-rounded compensation.
Planner
The Assistant Planner works closely with the planner/project administrator to plan, coordinate, and permit development projects, including commercial, industrial, multifamily, single-family, and institutional uses. This position does not offer a track for AICP certification. This position is open to entry-level applicants as well as applicants with a few years of experience in planning or a related field.
Specific duties may include:
- Assist with research on development sites, including:
- Permitting research
- Zoning/development code research
- Property records research
- Manage and assist with permitting for a variety of types of permits, including preparing written materials, submitting application packages, tracking and documenting permit progress.
- Produce project feasibility studies for development projects, summarizing research and providing recommendations
- Prepare conceptual site plans, plat plans, basic maps and graphics for development projects.
- Assist with record keeping, management and sharing
- Record and distribute meeting agendas and minutes
- Track project action items, decisions, and schedule benchmarks
- Coordinate with other consultants to scope and prepare special documents and studies, including land surveys, traffic studies, critical areas reports, etc.
