Structural Elements:
Concrete on metal deck
Metal stud joists
Steel beams and columns
Post-tensioned concrete
Shoring walls

CG Engineering prepared structural calculations and construction documents for a two-building project located on the shores of Lake Washington. The larger building is six floors of residential units above two floors of parking. The upper floors are concrete on metal deck with metal stud joists, steel beams and columns, special concentrically braced frames and moment frames, and metal stud infill framing. The bottom two floors have post-tensioned concrete decks with concrete walls and columns. The six upper floors were modeled on RAM Advanse, and a dynamic modal analysis was used. The smaller building is two floors and has the same framing system as the upper floors of the larger building. The stairs go to the roof, which has concrete pavers for the deck surface and potted plants.  Shoring was required on three sides of the excavation to a maximum height of approximately 14 feet. The shoring wall consisted of a cantilevered soldier pile wall. The wall was located directly adjacent to the basement walls.
