| On Tuesday April 12th Auburn officials hosted a dedication of their new city hall plaza. The plaza is the first of multiple projects intended to revitalize the downtown Auburn core which will feature a Promenade along South Division Street in the future. The new plaza features sculptural elements such as unique, energy efficient light fixtures, incorporates existing sculptures, and includes a water feature and seating benches. CG Engineering provided structural design for several elements of the improvement project. These elements included concrete retaining walls for landscaping and seating areas, a concrete water feature, sculpture foundations and a steel-framed kiosk building. The site contained soft soils which required all of the new foundations to be supported on steel pipe piles. CG Engineering worked closely with the City of Auburn and the design team to create construction drawings, specifications and cost estimates during a short project schedule. |
